In order to answer this question, it must be considered that Law N° 21.325 establishes different types of migratory categories, among which are Transitory Permanence and Temporary Residence.
– Transitory Permanence (Tourism): without intention to remain in Chile. Duration of stay is 90 days, extendable for 90 days.
a. Identification document (National Identity Card, Identity Documents (DNI) or passport).
b. Transitory Permanence Permit (ex Tourist Visa) depending on the country of origin.
c. Economic solvency for the period of stay.
Based on the last requirement, recently the Exempt Resolution N°3.646 was published, which indicated that at least 46 US dollars must be accredited for each day of stay in Chile.
Chile.
– Temporary Residence: to reside in the country for a limited period of time. Length of stay up to 2 years.
Once the Temporary Residence Permit has been approved from abroad, applied for before the National Migration Service, you must enter Chile as a “resident”. For this purpose, the following documentation must be shown:
a. Passport with which the application was made.
b. Electronic Stamp.
